Ty Barcud - a spacious three bedroom cottage

Ty Barcud was converted from the former dairy. Ty Barcud has two ground-floor double bedrooms (with luxury Hypnos mattresses) and an upstairs twin. Having a twin room along with the two doubles provides great flexibility for groups of 3 or 4

persons who each require the privacy of their own bed or bedroom. Occupancy in Ty Barcud is limited to 4 persons.

Downstairs, guests enjoy a large open-plan living and dining room, with adjoining kitchen. The wood-burning stove is the heart of the cottage and great for relaxing in front of when the sun sets.

Patio doors open onto a private garden with seating and table for alfresco dining. Both of the cottage gardens are south facing, allowing guests to make the most of sunny days, from dawn until dusk. The garden gate leads you into the extended gardens and grounds, with various lawns, planted areas and orchard for you to enjoy at your leisure.

What a fantastic cottage. Great location for exploring this part of Wales and near enough to the drive to the seaside villages and coastal path. Wonderful hosts who looked after everything we required. Perfect break.

Beautifully quiet, garden safe, considerate hosts. We found everything as on the photos and well equipped - good pans and plenty of equipment. Good layout and information from Digby and Penny, particularly gems like Watson and Pratt's Deli were fantastic. Little things like a boot jack at the door make all the difference.

We had another wonderful stay at the cottage which is so comfortable and inviting. Digby and Penny always make it such a pleasurable stay that we can't wait to book up another visit. The cottages, whether it is the smaller 1 bedroomed cottage or the larger 3 bedroomed cottage are spotlessly clean. There is everything you need. The furniture equipment, beds and bedding, towels etc are to a high standard. Digby and Penny are so friendly and approachable and helpful on every way. We would highly recommend a visit. You most certainly won't be disappointed.

The property was amazing, it met all our needs inside and out - so much so that we have already booked for next year! The property is presented very well with a high level of cleanliness and order. Penny and Digby were very pleasant and helpful and made us very welcome, Penny even cooked us home made cookies!!! The facilities for the dogs were amazing, our 2 little pooches returned home very tired from the huge field that they could run in - amazing !!!

My sister and I and our 2 dogs have just spent a fab week in this cottage, it had everything we needed. It’s in a very quiet country location, just the sound of birds and sheep. The hosts Digby and Penny are lovely, gave us lots of ideas of what to do and where to go. Penny made cookies which were delicious and they gave us home grown tomatoes. There was also a very nice welcome pack of goodies when we arrived. We would definitely recommend this holiday cottage…..so much so that my hubby and I are going back in October!

We had the pleasure of staying in Ty Barcud for a week in September.

The property is very well equipped and immaculate. There are even books and games for those not so nice days. The whole site is very well cared for by the owners, Penny and Digby. Who are a lovely couple who do everything they can to make your stay as special as they can. When you arrive there is a lovely welcome pack with even treats for your dog. Plenty of information leaflets and if you want to know more about the area they will help with more local knowledge. This is by far one of the best cottages you could wish to stay in. If you have a dog the enclosed field is a definite added bonus. We had the worst weather of the summer but the cottage was so lovely with a log burning fire we could still enjoy our stay. Will definitely be back.

This is a lovely cottage situated in a quiet picturesque location. We were welcomed by Digby and Penny on arrival and who helped us feel at home from the start. It is very dog friendly with a nice private secure garden straight out the back door, plus two fenced paddocks for running and play. The accommodation felt very clean and had everything we needed including a cosy wood burner. Penny and Digby were lovely hosts and really helpful. This will certainly be our first choice should we return to the area. Thank you, Rick, Helen, Katrina and Whisper.

The cottage was excellent we found no faults at all. If you like rural peace and quiet then you need to stay here. Our 2 border collies had a great time in the field. Our hosts Penny and Digby were great and on hand if you had any issues. We highly recommend this cottage.

We stayed for a week with both our dogs. Everything was fantastic and will definitely book again. Highly recommend this cottage.

Fabulous cottage, so clean comfortable and well equipped. A cottage but with modern facilities. Lovely comfortable beds, the garden so peaceful and pretty with an abundance of birds visiting the feeder, so nice to sit in the morning sun with just birdsong to listen to. The field just across the drive is great to let the dog off for a good old mooch around, the views of the hills lovely from here. Penny and Digby are a very nice friendly couple, available but not intrusive. We ate out in Lampeter, a town a 10 minute drive away, would highly recommend ‘The Black Lion’ a very nice reasonably priced pub with parking at the back. The Elan Valley a great place for walks or you can drive up to see the dams, very impressive! Just head to the visitor centre, info available there. We had a wonderful holiday in a wonderful cottage, would definitely recommend.

What friendly, welcoming and helpful hosts Penny and Digby are . The cottage is delightful and spotlessly clean and comfortable in beautifully maintained grounds. Our dogs were well catered for with the secure garden and field area , as well as their own towels and treats. Memories include watching the woodpecker on the garden feeder, owls on starlit nights, early misty morning views across the valley and peace and tranquillity. Blissful. Linda and Angela.

Penny and Digby were very approachable, knowledgeable about the local area and alround great hosts. We loved their dinner recommendation at ‘Y Talbot’ in Tregaron. We would certainly stay there again.

If I could give an even better rating, I would. The cottage and the grounds are just about perfect, for both humans and dogs: safe, comfortable, and with a million little details that are there to delight you. The hosts Penny and Digby (with their dogs Peca and Poppy) are wonderful: both present and discreet, with a natural passion for hospitality. I am looking forward to going back at some point.

Clean well equipped cottage in a peaceful location. Large (3 acres!) secure field for exercising self and dog, back garden also enclosed and secure. Friendly and helpful proprietors. Lots of attractive beaches and coastal walks within an hour, moderate hill walking within half an hour.

Penny and Digby were a friendly couple who were extremely helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. The cottage had a secure little garden which was visited by many birds. There are two large fields where the dogs can run. We had a great time on coastal walks and lots of lovely National Trust forest walks. Would definitely recommend.

One of the nicest properties we’ve been to. Digby and Penny made us feel most welcome. Penny’s homemade cookies went down a treat. Lots of room for our dog to run around safely outside. Cottage was well equipped, clean and tidy. We really enjoyed our break there.

Under sold! Penny and Digby are wonderful hosts, and you could not ask more for the amenities for dogs. Beautifully quiet, wonderful gardens and fantastic views from the field (which is safe for dogs) we would never have left, and would go back tomorrow given the chance!

Ty Barcud is a warm and cosy cottage. We loved the wood burner! The gardens are spectacular and the hosts couldn’t be friendlier or more helpful. I think they really have thought of everything to make their guests’ stay as stress free as possible. Thanks for a really lovely week!

Janice Gardiner - May 2022

Absolutely amazing cottage and garden. Owners couldn’t have been better, so friendly and helpful and their dogs are gorgeous. Came away feeling physically and mentally relaxed. No attention to detail spared in terms of the accommodation, everything you need. Just can’t praise it enough. Definitely intend to return.

Very soon after booking the cottage, I had contact from Digby and Penny, the hosts, with valuable information and directions to assist in finding them. They met us on arrival and proceeded to offer helpful local information - a very friendly couple. On entering the cottage, we were very impressed with the thoughtful welcome pack, and being Easter it was themed accordingly. Ty Barcud was a spotlessly clean, cosy, atmospheric cottage, with a lovely log burner, already laid for us to use on our first night, the radiators were very efficient too. The kitchen was very well equipped with a cooker, microwave, fridge and full size freezer, not to mention all of the utensils, baking equipment and crockery including serving dishes. The beds were lovely and comfy and we all slept well. The bed linen, towels and soft furnishings around the cottage were all good quality. The Wi-Fi signal was good, despite the remote location and using the internet was easy. There were reading books and games to use, as well as binoculars, everything had been thought about. Simply, it was 'home from home'. The cottage has its own safely enclosed dog friendly garden - sitting on the patio was a delight to watch and listen to the many bird species on the feeders, in a tranquil setting, so relaxing. The property grounds are extensive and guests are welcome to walk around at leisure, enjoying the countryside views, besides being able to use a safely enclosed area, with a picnic bench which can be found on a high point in one of the properties fields, a peaceful place to enjoy the views. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and the roads are not busy, making travelling to the local towns easy. This entire experience definitely exceeded our expectations, there was nothing that we could fault, or that could have been done better. We will return without hesitation.

Ty Barcud is a fantastic holiday home set in a beautiful setting. The position of the cottage allows views across the Teifi valley and onto the Cambrian Mountains, with Llanddewi Brefi in the middle distance. We were made very welcome by Digby and Penny, the cottage is very comfortable with all the facilities you could wish for, (dishwasher, washing machine etc.). The beds were extra comfortable. The wood burner was perfect, we used it every evening, so even when the weather was stormy we were snug watching the flames rather than the TV! The out-door space included a private garden with bird feeders, blue tits by the dozen and a couple of wood peckers too. Beyond the garden is meadow area with defined paths and there is also a large field, all excellent for either taking in the views and/or exercising the dog. All round the grounds are places to sit and enjoy the wonderful countryside. All in all a fantastic place to stay, I can’t recommend it enough. At night it is a dark sky, so the stars are amazing, sit outside, listen to the owls and wonder at the immensity of space!

Barrie Thomason - March 2022

We stayed at Ty Barcud for a week. We were met by our hosts who gave us a warm, informative welcome. They looked after us all week, nothing was too much trouble. The cottage is extremely well equipped with quality fixtures and fittings, dog friendly with practical ideas such as torches and walking boot trays. The private garden is enclosed and bird feeders were well stocked. The welcome basket was a nice touch, including dog biscuits. We found Ty Barcud to be spotlessly clean, spacious, comfortable and cosy. The log burner was a delight! The cottage is in a peaceful, tranquil location, surrounded by beautiful views, the only sounds being birdsong and sheep! There is plenty of local dog walking, including the owners' fields and a wood nearby. Further afield there are Forestry Commission walks and plenty of beaches within a 30-60 minutes drive. What a gem!
